Vacate Carpet Cleaning Melbourne: Why going cheap can cost you!

Vacate Carpet Cleaning Melbourne, customers should be wary of prices too good to be true.

A picture paints a thousand words….but so can a review!

This review was left by one of our vacate carpet cleaning Melbourne customers, just last week;

“Extremely professional & very passionate about his work.
My carpets had plenty of stains, marks, rust, chewing gum
and they got removed. He will try everything to remove marks
& stains. These stains were not removed by 2 carpet cleaning

companies before him.” Deepak Verma

To me the last sentence says it all!  This customer was vacating a property and had the carpets cleaned once during his tenancy and again as he was leaving.  Two different carpet cleaners were unable to remove the stains, he eventually called me to remove.

Before – 2 other cleaners had left the carpet in this state!

If at first you don’t succeed….

Just think, on top of all the other costs associated with moving house, this poor customer had to pay for vacate carpet cleaning, not once, but twice!  The first cleaner was budget priced and poor Deepak found out the hard way that sometimes “budget” means bad!  He was left in the unfortunate situation of either sacrificing part of his bond, or finding another carpet cleaner who could help.  Luckily for Deepak, he found Back Gold Carpet Cleaning and called me.

I was appalled that any carpet cleaner would leave a premises in that state and have the nerve to charge for it.  There were not only the original stains but also obvious browning and water damage from the carpet cleaner over wetting the carpet.  All carpets are different and a professional carpet cleaning understands this and adapts his cleaning methods accordingly.  Wool carpets require a different amount of water pressure (PSI) than synthetic carpets.  By using the wrong pressure setting, you can damage carpets by over wetting, which causes wicking (browning) and other issues such as mould and carpet shrinkage.

Quality is not an act…it’s a habit

What you are paying for when you hire me is more than just carpet cleaning, you are also getting years of experience and knowledge, training and qualifications which certify my work to industry standards, a satisfaction guarantee and peace of mind, knowing I will do everything I can to ensure you get your bond back and do so with a minimum of fuss.  I will turn up at the appointed time and you will have one less thing to worry about.  Moving house is a stressful business and I always do my part to make sure that at least the carpets are cleaned with a minimum of stress.

I was very happy to be able to help out Deepak and remove the stains and the water damage left by the previous cleaner.  Take a look at the colour of that water!! This is from carpet that supposedly had been cleaned a few days before!!

Before hiring someone vacate carpet cleaning in Melbourne, ask them if they have;

  • Qualifications or training
  • How long they have been in business
  • If they offer a guarantee
  • what equipment and products they use
  • Do they have insurance

A Professional carpet cleaner will ask you some questions too such as;

  • How many rooms do you have / what is the approximate area?
  • What is the condition of the carpet (lightly soiled, stained, worn, heavily soiled)
  • What type of fibre is the carpet (wool, synthetic, blended, etc.)
  • How long since the carpet has been cleaned
  • Is the property furnished or empty

If they do not ask these types of questions, then I would be quite careful, as they may be offering a budget price to secure the job and then want to increase the quote once they arrive (known as bait and switch tactiVacate Carpet Cleaning Melbourne guaranteedcs) or they are not adequately trained or not yet experienced enough to know that these questions are very important when determining an accurate quote. Merry Christmas from BGCC: Local carpet cleaners Melbourne

Your local carpet cleaners Melbourne

It seems to be that time of year again, where we celebrate with family and friends and marvel at how the year has passed so quickly.

It is a time for rituals and traditions, some old and some new. We are local carpet cleaners Melbourne and with three young children, Local carpet cleaners Melbournewe really enjoy the wonder and magic that this time of year brings and we are enjoying creating our own special Christmas traditions. In our family we don’t have a traditional Christmas tree, instead we choose interesting branches found on our walks to and from our local Melbourne school.  We decorate these branches with hand Local carpet cleaners Melbournemade ornaments made by my wife and children over the past few years. Each child so proud of their own unique creation.

If you do happen to have a living tree, make sure you lay some plastic or protective fabric on the floor under the tree to protect your carpet from spills. Also make sure the tree is secure in a bucket of water filled with small rocks or a Christmas tree cradle so it doesn’t tip over and cause water damage to your carpet. If you do have an accident with the water make sure you soak up as much of the water as possible with old towels and try to dry the area with a fan or heater.  Do not stand on the area as this will force the water down into the underlay. If you have a large spill make sure you phone us, your local carpet cleaners in Melbourne, to extract the water and apply the necessary treatments to stop mould and discolouration.

Papier Mache Magic!

Local carpet cleaners Melbourne

Another favourite tradition of ours is the ChristmLocal carpet cleaners Melbourneas Pinata! We make a pinata every year from a balloon and papier mache. The kids love getting hands on with the flour paste glue, they enjoy the creative process and it takes a week or so to get all the layers on and painted. My wife however does not enjoy the clean up afterwards, but we grin and bear it when we see the look pure joy on their faces and to be honest we love to see them working co-cooperatively rather than the usual sibling bickering. If the kids get creative with your carpet or upholstery, don’t panic and don’t go crazy with store bought cleaners, call Black Gold, your local carpet cleaners Melbourne for advice. We can usually suggest the appropriate method for your spill or stain and often it is something you can do your self using products you already have in your kitchen/laundry/bathroom cupboard. If not, we are always happy to come out and clean the stain for you.

Thank you20131207_173535 and see you next year!

Another tradition is to thank all those who have been made our year special, friends, family, teachers, coaches, suppliers and YOU! Thank you to all of our wonderful customers.  Thank you for your loyalty, thank you for giving us a go, thank you for leaving a review, thank you for recommending us to your friends and families, thank you for welcoming us into your homes and offices and thank you for choosing us to be your preferred Melbourne local carpet cleaners.  We have enjoyed meeting each and everyone of you and look forward to seeing you again next year! Speaking of next year….once the Christmas and New Years festivities have finished and your floors could do with special attention, please call us.

We are working throughout January!!

carpet water damage

SOS..carpet water damage..washing machine overflowing..Help!

So there I was feet up on the coffee table, soccer on the TV….ahhh I love Sunday mornings.  It is my one day off for the week and now that the weather is warming up, my weeks are getting busier and busier.  Not that I am complaining mind you, but I really do look forward to day off with the family.

Help..carpet water damage emergency! water on carpet

Then it happened….the phone rang… with some trepidation, I answered.  It was of course a job, but not just any job, a carpet water damage emergency!!

Emily from Prahran, Melbourne lives in a share house and unfortunately the washing machine sprung a leak and they were now up to their knees in water – well maybe their ankles, but there was quite a lot of water on the carpet.

Carpet Water DamageKeep calm and throw down the towel!

I told Emily not to panic and I would be there in about 30 minutes. She asked what she could do to while she was waiting, so I advised her to throw down some towels and soak up as much of the water on carpet as possible and avoid further carpet water damage, but not to stand on the towels.  “Whoops” she said, she already had stomped all over them attempting to soak up the water!  Do you do that too?  As soon as there is a spill throw down some paper or towels and stand on them? This is the worst thing to do as it forces all the liquid down deep into the pile and through to the underlay. “Never mind” I told her, “just try not to walk on the area until I get there, oh and open a window if you can.”  Ventilation is important to help speed up the drying process, so a fan positioned opposite an open window is ideal in this situation.

Sometime later……water damage carpet

Of course it was just my luck, that Emily’s Prahran apartment was on the second floor! So once I had lugged my trusty portable water extraction machine up 3 flights of stairs, I got to work, extracting the water from her carpet.

Luckily for Emily and her friends, the water hadn’t soaked through so there was no need to pull up the carpet and replace the underlay. Once the water was extracted, I sprayed 2 treatments, one was an antimicrobial treatment to prevent mold and bacteria and the other was an anti browning solution. When carpet becomes very wet, the backing often causes a brown discolouration of the carpet, which is common in carpet water damage situations and is, not surprisingly called “browning”! I also applied a deodouriser to ensure the carpet smelt fresh like oranges and not wet dog!

All’s well that ends well

I left a couple of blowers there to dry the carpet as quickly as possible and told Emily I would call to check on them tomorrow.  When I followed up with Emily the next day, the carpet was dry and she was very happy! No stains, no smell, just nice clean, dry carpet with no sign of carpet water damage.
